Ram Mandir Phase Two Consecration Scheduled: Ayodhya Gears Up for Historic Ceremony Once Again

Ayodhya, June 3, 2025 — Preparations are in full swing for the second phase of the consecration ceremony at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya, as temple authorities announce the formal schedule for the sacred event. This phase will focus on the sanctification of the upper temple structure and installation of key deities, reinforcing the spiritual and cultural magnitude of the project for millions of devotees.

According to the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, the second consecration—Pran Pratishtha—will be held over three days starting July 15, 2025, culminating in an elaborate Vedic ceremony conducted by prominent Acharyas and Shankaracharyas from across India.

What Is the Second Consecration Phase?

While the first Pran Pratishtha ceremony held on January 22, 2024, marked the installation of the idol of Ram Lalla in the sanctum sanctorum, this second phase will focus on:

  • Consecration of Ram Darbar idols (Ram, Sita, Lakshman, and Hanuman)

  • Ritual energization (avahan) of the Kritika Mandap and Singh Dwar

  • Completion of major structural sanctification for upper temple floors and pillared mandapas

The rituals will follow the Shilpa Shastra and Agama traditions, with continuous chanting of Vedic mantras, homas, and ceremonial baths (abhisheka).

The event is expected to attract over 1.5 million devotees from India and abroad. Arrangements for live broadcasts and digital darshan are being finalized with Doordarshan and Sanskar TV.

Construction Milestones Leading to the Event

The Ram Mandir has seen rapid development in the past year. As per updates from the Larsen & Toubro (L&T) project team, the temple’s ground floor was completed in December 2024, and the upper floors are now in the final polishing stage.

Key features of the temple as of May 2025:

  • Total area: 2.7 acres

  • Height: 161 ft (once completed)

  • Pillars installed: 392 (hand-carved by artisans from Rajasthan)

  • Marble sourced from: Makrana, Rajasthan

  • Gold-plated kalash: Installed on the central shikhara in April 2025

Engineers are using seismic base isolation technology to make the structure earthquake-resistant, ensuring longevity over centuries.

Religious and Cultural Significance

The Ram Mandir is more than just a religious symbol; it is a cultural and political landmark that signifies a long-drawn battle for faith and identity. The first consecration was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who referred to it as a "civilizational moment" for India.

According to Swami Govind Dev Giri, treasurer of the Ram Mandir Trust:

"This second phase will elevate the temple from being a structure of stone to a fully consecrated living abode of Shri Ram."

The rituals will include 108 kalash yatra, Ganga Jal abhisheka, and a global Ramayana recitation marathon, being coordinated in association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and other Hindu spiritual organizations.

Political Undercurrents and 2025 Relevance

The announcement comes at a politically sensitive time, with several by-elections and regional power shifts underway. Experts note that the symbolism of the second consecration could play a key role in voter sentiments, especially in Uttar Pradesh and Hindi heartland states.

Political analyst Rasheed Kidwai notes in his column on ThePrint:

"The Ram Mandir remains the ideological epicenter for Hindutva politics. Every step in its construction resonates far beyond Ayodhya."

While opposition parties have maintained cautious silence, some leaders from the Congress and SP have asked for equal focus on infrastructure and livelihoods in Ayodhya.

Logistics, Security, and Devotee Arrangements

The Uttar Pradesh government, led by CM Yogi Adityanath, has activated a multi-agency task force to manage logistics:

  • Special trains from Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru

  • Drone surveillance and AI-based facial recognition at entry points

  • Medical camps, public kitchens, and water stations across Ayodhya

  • Mobile apps developed by the Ayodhya Development Authority for real-time crowd updates and temple schedules

The Ministry of Tourism is also preparing to launch a “Ramayan Circuit” package that links Ayodhya with other pilgrimage sites like Chitrakoot, Nashik, and Rameswaram.

What’s Next for Ram Mandir?

Following this consecration phase, the final temple inauguration is expected to take place in January 2026, once the temple’s outer Mandaps and the expansive Parikrama Path are completed.

The temple will also house:

  • A Ramayan Research Library

  • A museum of Ram Janmabhoomi history

  • Digital interactive exhibits showcasing Lord Ram’s life and teachings

Conclusion: Another Historic Chapter for Ayodhya

With the second phase of Pran Pratishtha just weeks away, Ayodhya is once again poised to be the spiritual focal point for Hindus worldwide. The event is not merely a continuation of the temple’s consecration—it is a renewed assertion of India’s cultural and spiritual heritage, written in sandstone and sanctified in centuries of belief.

As the sound of conches and Vedic chants fills the air once again, the Ram Mandir moves closer to becoming the defining religious monument of modern Bharat.
